The MGIEP-SACTD Joint Programme is a collaborative initiative designed to enhance teacher education across South Asia by focusing on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Digital Pedagogy (DP). Conducted from August 6th to 8th, 2024, in Meepe, Sri Lanka, this program aims to modernize pedagogical skills among Teacher Educators.
Programme Highlights:
- Key Areas: Digital literacy through the Digital Teacher (DT) course and emotional intelligence via SEL training.
- Training: A three-day in-person workshop followed by online courses and rigorous evaluations, including pre- and post-course surveys and classroom observations.
- Observer Training: Senior observers were trained to monitor the program’s impact on teaching practices.
- Impact: The initiative is expected to elevate teaching standards across South Asia, fostering continuous professional development and sustainable educational excellence.
Institutional Background:
- MGIEP: A UNESCO Category 1 Research Institute in India, focused on integrating SEL into education systems for peaceful and sustainable societies.
- SACTD: A UNESCO Category II Centre in Sri Lanka, dedicated to teacher development in South Asia.
