Programme at a GLANCE
Both SACTD and UNICEF expressed the desire to have further discussions, recognizing their shared goal of supporting educators in the South Asian region with a well-structured Monitoring and Evaluation Programme.
SACTD Management, alongside the FPA Director (Advocacy) and Director (Organizational Learning & Evaluation), explores opportunities for capacity-building training for teacher educators, with a
special focus on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Inclusive Education.
SACTD Academic Staff, together with experts on inclusive education, held an initial discussion to define the scope and key activities of a proposed initiative on Sexual and Reproductive Health for Students with Disabilities. This initiative is planned as a collaboration with the FPA to enhance awareness and support for inclusive learning.
The South Asian Centre for Teacher Development (SACTD, UNESCO C2C) has established a strategic partnership with Fulbright Sri Lanka, with discussions hosted by SACTD on 13 February 2025 alongside Dr. Patrick McNamara, Executive Director of Fulbright Sri Lanka.
This collaboration, initiated through communications with the Embassy of the USA in Colombo, SACTD, and Fulbright Sri Lanka, aims to enhance academic and professional opportunities for teacher educators. As part of this partnership, SACTD will serve as a host institution for a Fulbright Specialist, fostering the exchange of expertise in teacher education.
Dr. McNamara emphasized the alignment between SACTD’s mission and Fulbright initiatives, particularly the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Awards, which recognize outstanding educators worldwide. A Fulbright Fellow is already in contact with SACTD, and further discussions are underway to develop a collaborative project.
