Overview
The South Asian Centre for Teacher Development (SACTD), in partnership with UNESCO MGIEP, launched an innovative capacity-building programme focused on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Digital Pedagogy. This initiative aims to modernize teacher education across Sri Lanka’s National Colleges of Education (NCOEs) and foster a regional exchange of pedagogical strategies.
Brief Description
This regional programme strengthened SEL and digital pedagogy capacities among teacher educators from all 19 NCOEs in Sri Lanka. Through blended learning, cross-country collaboration, and post-course application, the initiative promotes long-term transformation in teacher education.

The Results
- Strengthened Teacher Educator Capacity: All 19 NCOEs now have trained representatives ready to lead SEL and digital pedagogy initiatives.
- Regional Collaboration and Shared Learning: Fostered a South Asian learning network among educators.
- Scalable Impact: A structured plan is in progress for broader implementation through NIE and the Ministry of Education.
- Sustainable Integration: Future plans include national dissemination of best practices and curriculum development support.
